Making coffee to stay up late

I did not do anything useful today. It is shame, no doubt. I have to survey myself, why it happened. Well, probably that’s because I did not go out; I had to write a resume and send it to a company. Furthermore, I had to wait till the company replied. I lost chance to go out and it started raining out side.

What I did instead…slept. I got up around 7 pm I was already dark. I should find a job soon otherwise I will waste days.

For a change, I went to “Don Quixote” a chain store like Wal-Mart. The store has practically everything and destroys local businesses. I call it petit Wal-Mart. Anyway, they are cheap and I can not help but go there to buy. I bought some tools for making coffee. In the U.S., I don’t know anybody make coffee without a coffee maker. But some Japanese do “hand drip”; Pouring by oneself. The merit of the way is you can make coffee stronger or weaker what ever you want. Anyway I am happy with making coffee myself.

a fountain pen

I went to the library again. But before I went there, I first headed for Mitaka to go to a bike shop. My bike still squeaked when I leaned the bike deeper. I thought I should check it up. But unfortunately the shop wasn’t open. The owner went to Okinawa to join a triathlon as a mechanic. He put a notice and it said he would come back tonight. Can you believe it? How lucky I was. Hahahaha anyway, I left there as I saw it.

On the way back, I suspected it would be waste that I came. Suddenly I remembered there was a place where I could buy root beer. I went there and bought warm root and drunk on the spot. Well taste is not as good as the one Benji brought to me, though. I prefer “safe way select”

After that I went to the library and stayed there for two or three hours.

What else I have done…well I ordered a fountain pen on the web. It is Pelikan Souveran 800. It cost me almost 40000 yen. But I had thinking to buy a one. And this Souveran800 has a really good reputation among fiends. I do have one and use for what ever I write. But I feel uncomfortable with this. It’s sometimes good and sometimes not. I think I will receive the new one in two or three days. I can’t wait

I don’t shop much; especially I don’t want to waste money on something I don’t need. But I tried to make sure if I needed this pen for a few weeks.

Some of my friends like to buy or collect clothing or glasses or bag or something that you don’t need many. Here is one guys who spend 100000 yen( around $1,000) on clothes every month. What he does at the end, sell to friends. Of course he can’t retrieve all money. Well he seems enjoying it, though.

Anyway, I wont buy anymore fountain pen for a while, because a fountain pen is a tool, you make it into your shape. It takes time.

With two guys

My ex-co-worker and I went to a café with Nicholas today. I did not know what it was going to be; because my ex-co-worker, Shunsuke does not speak English much and Nicholas, even he studied Japanese for one year, can not speak Japanese perfectly. But I did not have to worry about it. We dispensed with any problem. Shunsuke could spoke broken English and got intention through to Nicholas. Besides, Nicholas’s Japanese was pretty much enough. Sometimes I did interpret, but most of time they did not have a problem.

People who speak English can understand somebody’s broken English. Well it was fun, anyways.

Nicholas is going to leave Japan on 27th. He would go to Kyoto for sight seeing, but he decided not to go. He said he liked Tokyo too much. Well I myself prefer Kyoto, though.

Befoe TOEFL

I took TOEFL today. But on the way to take the test, I had lots of problems. Yeah lots of. I was supposed to get to the test center 30 earlier than the test started. The test would start 1pm, so I should have been there 12:30. I woke up this morning around 8 to make my brain up. I took shower and did some stuff and started watching videos on the web. I did not study at all for the test. To make long story short, I took 12pm for 11am. So, would leave my room 11am but, when I was locking the door, saw my watch it said it was 12pm!! I thought Oh I am going to miss the test!!

I knew the train took me 45 minutes to get the place. But I did not know for sure where the exact place was. I did not know how to get to the test place after got off the train. As I expected I lost my way. That place was located in 15th floor of some building. I did not see any tall building. I ran around, back and forth, when I was at opposite side of the road, I could see a big building. I looked around carefully to make sure that building is the one I was looking for. I ran right to the building, even I ignored the traffic light.

When I was at the test center it was 3 to 1pm. So, I could take the test.
How did it go? I am not sure they will send me the result one month later. I’ll get the score between 150 and 213. Because, they have to point my essay.

Anyway, it was hard, hard to get to the place. Hahahahaahah

toefl

I am about to go to take a TOEFL test, but honestly, I haven’t prepare at all. The circumstance, surrounding me, didn’t allow me to do it. Anyway, I just now checked up, and knew what TOEFL is. They give me these, “Listening”, “Writing” “Reading”, and “Structure” problems. Why I didn’t know about what it is………maybe I am a sort of slacker. At least I should have checked. Besides, I didn’t care where to take and what to bring. Well it seems I should bring my passport, probably ending up being asked if I am Mexican. Great.

Anyway, I sort of regret that I made my reservation at 1pm. I cannot leave there for hours…I should take earlier one. I totally don’t know what is going to be.

Anyway, I know that I am going to bookstore to seek good book for TOEFL. I bet I will

What is perfect?

Well, I started working at 3 pm. I usually work from 12pm to 11pm, so today was kind of easier day, at least it would be. But it turned up not.

When I got there the manager was already gone, that means I didn’t too much worry about he had stolen money for the safe again. But, the head part timer was there. His name is Fumito and actually he is a nice guy, very careful worker. He does good job all the time. Doing good job and meeting expectations are needed in working of course. But in his case, he does too much. His work is really nice, so naturally he require us to do as good as he does. So, as you have experienced, that’s so irritating.

He demand us to keep the kitchen clean like the kitchen is just built now. Hahaha and you know, it is impossible.

Okay, moving on. I talked with one of girls work the café. She has a boyfriend and told me she was ready to break up with him. She before told me she competed with her friend’s to go around him. So, she kicked her friend’s butt to be with that boyfriend. Anyway, she is now going to break up is because, her boyfriend feel inferiority from her. They are same age and in general, girls have progressed thoughts than boys do. She thinks his thought is childish and he can not get the better of her in arguing. All he can do is yells or acts he is angry at her or her opinions. It is evidence that the boy is childish. Anyhow, I advised her not to let him feel inferior; even if he says wrong thing. We cannot persuade people, but let them notice. Some body said this, maybe Socrates or don’t know.

Since I started using my fountain pen which I bought in Seattle Washington, I really want to buy a new one. Actually the pen I bought in WA was too junk to use in public. You don’t see it in distance, but once you hold the pen you should know that is inclining and you will tell it wasn’t intended to be made that way. Like the craftsman aimed that the pen would look like an art or something. Anyway, when I was at the pike place market—where amateur travelers go—I found the pens in various colors. It was almost three years ago. 2003, summer. And when I left the U.S., I was in Seattle for the flight and happened to go to the Pike place market—where 100% of Japanese travelers who are from Japan to see Ichiro, not Mariners—and hung around there. I found the shop I saw two years ago back then, and I decided I would buy one of those fountain pens; I didn’t see pens yet, though. I asked the old lady what was characteristic of those pens. She answered vividly the body of pens were made by special way. I didn’t get into what the “special way” was; but I bought one green one.

Despite the body was bent—I don’t know she meant this was the “special”—I still like the feel when I write. The fountain pen drove me write.

So, the reason I want to buy new pen is not because I don’t like my current curved pen. Now I know some difference and it take me a while to make any pens into my shape. People write in own way and even if people use same kind of pen, sometime later those pens will be shaped into for each person.

Anyway I want to buy one, some pen.

in the train

Yesterday I happened to use a train to work. It was just because that was rain so, I had a choice to get soaked and get to work; and I used to do it. Being wet is sometimes okay.

Anyway, I saw a million people while I transferred a line. People just looked where they were going. People never care the others, in spite of those million people passing by. As for each person, the other people are just about things stand on their way or moving objects. Probably, some people catch sights of some particular people everyday wherever in train or station and all. But I doubt if they recognize they see each other all the time. I guess if a decade passed and people still used same train, some people never be acquainted.
